Ahok Still Searching for Legal Protection of ERP

Jakarta Governor, Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama is still searching for legal protection for the electronic road ricing (ERP) system. As the wanted fares system could be adjusted with the number of passing vehicles.

"Well, we're still searching the legal protection, we want ERP to control number of vehicles on the road unlike a tax, or toll. But we haven't found it," said Ahok, at City Hall, Wednesday (8/5). 

According to him, if it is determined as retribution thus the fares cannot be adjusted with number of passing vehicles. "What I want is the more vehicles passing the higher fares it could be," he expressed.

He told the current obstacle is the absence of officials who are brave to execute it. They are afraid to make a mistake, which is why Head of Transportation Department replaced. 

"Most of our officials afraid to make a mistake, finding. And I decided to look for a brave official, not having a past. So he is not from the department itself," he told. 

However, he committed about the application in the city. He plans to assign PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) which is the City-Owned Enterprises (BUMD) to apply the system. But there is still no legal protection of it. 

"The legal protection should be formed soon. It has just been tested for a year. It is being evaluated, by the basic test we will make the auction process," he closed.
